Kitchen back splash is done - YAY! I absolutely love it - it's fun, fresh, cute, gives our bland kitchen so much character. Amazing what a simple update can do. So excited! I can honestly say that I love this house now.

But it's so pretty that we need to highlight the tile and get some under cabinet lighting. Something battery operated because I'm done paying contractors. (though my next call is to an HVAC person because we're having heating issues now).

Better pictures soon when we get everything cleaned up and all put together (don't I always say that?)

  1. I found your blog while googling ideas for my raised ranch stairway. I'm thinking of wainscoating. I love what you have done with your house!! My kitchen is very similar to yours. Cabinets, knobs but my backsplash is larger white tiles with accent trim in blue and I have blue speckled corian (would love to change that now)

  2. Wow! You really rocked that ranch. I'm looking for something affordable in NH and (I can't believe I'm saying this, but...)I'm really considering a RR. I'm a contractor and I've thought of a 100 things I could do to make one more classic. You went the other way and made it contemporary. Brilliant. Don't hide it, accentuate it. Way to go. I'm all in.

  3. Thanks, Rick! Really, the neighborhood was the selling point for us, and the RR was the most affordable way to get into it. After we moved in, someone bought a piece of land across the street and put in a striking custom contemporary. I took inspiration also from another home across the street (then one selling off acres of land) that was designed by a student of frank lloyd wright. I love the prairie style.

  4. Hey can you take a bunch of pictures of your whole house inside and out. I'd like to compare our Ranches. From what I've seen you've already improved you're quite a bit. I think it was on your blog I found the link to an HGTV ranch makeover that was awesome. Then I photoshopped how that type of redo would look like on ours. Check it out at www.renovatemyranch.blogspot.com but we have long way to go. We just opened up kitchen, DR, and LR by taking down 3 walls.

  5. Hi Tridoc! Love what you did there with the p'shopping. Love your ideas - we have identical style!

I will try to take better pics of the house. I just had the interior painted, new carpeting put in, so I have to re-hang all my artwork. I also need to get my beautiful new front door fixed. My spaz of a husband was weed-wacking and managed to wack a rock right at it, smashing the outer glass layer into a million pieces. It's heart-breaking.
